Professional vs. Amateur

Updated: Aug 26, 2019

What makes GDB different from other Local performers?

I asked myself this question after a recent encounter with another performer. Most other performers would answer this by stating that it is their dedication to music, skill level, and experience. However, that would not be the correct response. Music is an ART and not a defined science, so to compare one sound to another is much like comparing someones opinions. There is no "right" or "wrong". So to provide an answer to this question we have to look beyond the music itself. Personally, I believe it's the personality that makes a difference. There are many local artists in WV, and what I have noticed is that the majority of these artists believe that they are in competition with each other. Whether it be for venues, fan base, or whatever else, this creates animosity among the artists/musicians and is antithetical to the purpose of the art. GDB supports other musicians and performers, we attend their shows, and even promote them by sharing content about up-coming events. The members of GDB have an unconditional love for music regardless of who is performing it. We (GDB) aren't consumed by the "who can play it better", "That's not how its done" or "this should have been our show" attitude that many musicians/performers seem to have. If musicians/performers would support each other and network together, the opportunities could be endless. GDB's motto is "Support local music" not just our music. So, to simplify my answer to the question: The artists that form GDB are humble and share a love for all music. We believe that the entertainment aspect of a performance is just as important as the artistry. Want a better answer? Come to a show, meet the band, and see for your self.

" Support Local Art and Enjoy the Music"
